HIV ?

Hello doctor than you for giving up your time to assess my situation.

Very stupidly on a holiday to a party destination in Majorca, Spain I engaged in protected oral and to the best of my knowledge protected vaginal sex with a sex worker. I was greatly intoxicated at this moment as I would never have dreamt of doing such a stupid thing sober. I remember putting the condom on myself the penis was semi flaccid/hard due to the alcohol, she performed oral sex on me before I had vaginal sex which did not last very long. Between the vaginal sex I pulled the condom out to check the tip was okay which it was but was quite dry. After this I remember her performing oral on me again whilst finishing off with a hand job. From here I somewhat remember removing the condom which seemed to be intact from my penis and placing it in a bin. I don't know if I can remember seeing semen in the tip although I think I did but this might be my mind giving me false images to cope with what happened. I couldn't imagine her proceeding to give oral and a handjob if she herself had noticed any malfunction of the condom, I hope.  Also I had a pretty nasty cut on my knee which I got a day before from falling over the cut was about 1 1/2 inches so sort of like a deep nasty graze.

Use a little common sense, please.  Since you could not have caught HIV, you could not have given it to your girlfriend.  And HIV doesn't cause stomach ache as the main symptom.

Apologies doc but I missed something out of my already long essays. Just one last thing, my girlfriend was complaining of stomach ache about 2 weeks ago went to the docs and he said its maybe a virus she had no other symptoms (which this freaked me out even more) and went after about a week and is fine now would this have no relation to the situation ? Thank you once again doc you won't be hearing from me after this until I have my 'negative' test results.

Kind Regards

Again I do apologise doc I don't mean to make your job harder. Thank you so very much for your expert opinion I know I gained an answer from a very reliable person in the community forum but Just the word expert and obviously the knowledge they poses sobers the mind more and I do aim to get a test I am on holiday at the moment and can not get access to one. But your answers and almost certainity with a negative HIV test result has already eased my mind I can now get on with my life and put this behind me. Thank you once again doc for your help.

God bless you

Welcome to the forum.

Both here and on the community forum, you describe a sexual exposure that carried no risk of HIV, and symptoms that are not at all likely due to HIV, which does not generally cause diarrhea -- and if it does, would do so in combination with other symptoms, and would start within 2 weeks of catching the virus. And anyway, you took an antibiotic whose most common side effect is diarrhea and gas, which is the almost certain explanation of it.  The possible sebaceous cysts are not something to expect from either HIV or any other STD.  As for being "dizzy and lightheaded":  whenever a person suggests his or her own symptoms are due to anxiety, usually s/he is correct.  Finally, a single lymph node or two is never evidence for an HIV infection.

But the main thing that strikes me about your question is that you don't report an HIV test.  If you remain concenred about that possibility despite the reassurance you have had, that's obviously the thing to do -- the negative result may be more reassuring than anything I can say.  If and when you do it, feel free to return with a comment to let me know the result.  But there's no point in speculation when a definitive answer is so readily available, so I won't have any other comments or advice until then.

FYI, the reason for the 2,000 character limit is to require the entire question to fit in the original window.  THe moderators shouldn't be expected to read long essays!

Best wishes--  HHH, MD

I put this saga behind me and got a chlamydia and gonorrhoea test when I got back home which came back negative as HIV was not in my head at this point really. I was woken by my girlfriend about 4-5 weeks prior to the event as I was sweating and very hot in bed whilst I was asleep I didn't really notice I was until being woken. From here still around the 4-5 I then had two lumps appear in my lower abdomen which were painful to the touch not itchy but with red skin around them. They felt like little sacks under the skin that moved when I touched them. I went to the doctors and he said they could be sebaceous cysts and having spoken to friends they have said they have had them in the past before going to the doctors they seemed to be going down themselves and only last around 5-7 days. The doctor prescribe a course of Flucloxacillin to be taken 4 times a day for around 5/7 days. After this course of antibiotics they were completely gone. Then a few days after finishing the antibiotics I then started to have diarrhoea. The diarrhoea was not severe. Severe meaning to the point where I was scared to drive my car incase of an 'accident' the diarrhoea would only occur 1-2 times a day and sometimes not be too 'watery' just loose stooles. This was also joined with quite alot of gas like a cramping feeling in the stomach a few minutes before the diarrhoea. I taken an Imodium to stop the diarrhoea and this seemed to have worked as the diarrhoea has gone. I am now at nearly 8 weeks prior to the incident but around 7 weeks due to the diarrhoea I started to get really panicky and anxiety kicked in with all sorts of thoughts I felt dizzy and light headed which I have put to anxiety. I have no felt what feels to be a small lump on the right side of my neck which I think is a lymph node as it sort of aches
