Kissing/ Hiv? ARS<<< timeline..

Hello, Doc HHH... I will make this simple, I went on a date with a girl. all we did was make out, french kissing, and necking.. By the way I'm a Straight, white male 24 yrs old. she told me she was clean and had no HIV.. So anyways 3 to 4 days after making out , deep kissing ..I get a sore throat and swollen lymph node, but heres the thing there only on the left side of my throat and neck under my jaw bone..so earlier this week I went to the Doctor, and she told me it was tonsillitis probally. she confirmed it was a swelled node on left side , and throat looked lil red and irritated. she gave me a atibiotic.. and a few days later it was feeling better, didnt hurt anymore when  swallowed, and lymph node was not tender and sore like it was before medicine.. also I did not have no fever when they checked my tempurature.. heres my questions..also no stept throat they tested and came negative for it back. I also suffer from severe allergies with post nasal drip, but one thing funny, everytime I make out and kiss a girl, a few days later I will get a sore throat and swollen glands,, why??? this is like the 5th time this happened>

1) Is 3 to 4 days too soon for ARS to start?? I heard different things..and what are most common symptoms, and how long they last?

2) The night of the date I shaved my neck with a razor and it was freshly shaved, and had lil dried blood on my neck, could there be transmittion from that? with her saliva if she was infected?? also i pricked my tonsil and it was lil blood on it would this transmit it?

Kissing never transmits HIV. Almost certainly you caught a garden variety virus from your partner, not HIV or any other STD.  I cannot answer why the same thing seems to have happened before, but that certainly doesn't imply HIV.  The symptoms of ARS are posted in many sites on the web and I don't have time to repeat them. But you don't mention fever, which is almost always present.

1) Yes, 3-4 days is too soon.  ARS starts 10-14 days after exposure, maybe as early as a week, and definitely never less than a week.  2) No, a razor nick on your neck would make no difference.

Trust me, you're not going to be the first person in the world to catch HIV by kissing, expecially from a partner at no risk!

Good luck--  HHH, MD

The additional information doesn't change my opinion.  I agree you are "worrying yourself to death."  Return to your doc if you remain concerned, but I cannot help further.

I cannot take the time to answer such open-ended questions about the routes of transmission.  That information is available from CDC, many local and state health departments, and a hundred other sources.  But my advice is to completely disregard such things as "amount" of fluids and other details that will just worry you.  For example, even a large amount of blood in your partner's mouth would make no difference with respect to kissing.  Safe sex means selecting partners who say they are at low risk or uninfected, and outside committed monogamous relationships, use condoms for vaginal or anal sex.  That's it.  Do those thing and you will never catch HIV sexually.

If you really are so frightened about HIV that you cannot kiss someone, that is totally irrational and indicates a need for professional mental health counseling.  I suggest it out of compassion, not criticism.

This will have to be my last response.  Good luck--  HHH, MD

I also had a small piece of food stuck in my tinsil on left side, and pricked it with toothpick, and my tonsil was irritated and lil blood showed on Q tip when I messed with tonsil..could this be a factor of transmittion? with infected saliva?

4) Can you make it clear to me what are the only routes of transmittion, and does there have to be a lot of infected fluid to get infected?

5) I think Im worrying myself to death, I think I have a fever, and feel hot, I think I feel itchy, rashy,  I think I have some issues on HIV ..? and risk, I mean I cannot even kiss someone and not think all these horrible things about HIV and me..Should I be tested??
