Question on risk of exposure

Dear Doctors,

Thank you for providing all the useful information on this forum.

I am a heterosexual male in a monogamous relationship with a woman.  About 6 weeks ago I did something really stupid.  Out of curiosity I allowed another man to finger my anus and then he performed oral rimming on my anus.  There was no penis contact whatsoever so therefore no penetration.

I have a history of hemorrhoids.  The fingering was somewhat aggressive and triggered pre-existing hemorrhoids to agitate.  There was no sign of any blood during or after the encounter.  The hemorrhoids cleared up after a week and half with over the counter hemorrhoid treatment.

I have not experienced any fever or flu like symptoms.  After about 2 weeks I did notice a single small painless lump on the right side of my groin less than 1/2 inch in size.  For all I know this has been there for a long time because I had never checked before.  There is no swelling or lumps anywhere else on my body.

What is the risk of HIV transmission through fingering and analingus in the presence of hemorrhoids?  In your clinical opinion, would you recommend testing?

Please.  Stop asking these repetitive questions.  No risk means no risk.  I will not repeat myself again.  EWH

Thank you for the response.

One final question and I can move forward.  To be clear the vigorous fingering occurred before the analingus.  Id there any risk of receiving analingus with the presence of anal fissures?

I really do appreciate your responses to my questions.

No.  The acts you describe are still masturbation and masturbation is not associated with risk for HIV.  The vigor with which your partner manipulated you does not impact things at all - no risk for HIV.  EWH

Thank you doctor for the prompt response.  I just have one quick follow up question.

The fingering was somewhat intense and may have also caused anal fissures which have subsequently healed.  Does that have any impact on the possible likelihood of HIV infection?

Welcome to the Forum.  I am pleased to assure you that the activities you describe are no risk for HIV.  HIV is not transmitted by either masturbation, even anal masturbation, or analingus.  That you had active hemorrhoids at the time of your activities does not change this- still not risk.

I see no medical reason for testing related to the encounter you describe above.  Take care.  EWH
