Oral worries, lymph nodes , ARS......

Hi..I am a 28 year old, currently single male. I have received unprotected oral sex from a sex-worker (she sucked me to completion) in late December 2009. That same night, I developed a very mild sore throat that persisted for a few days. Exactly 7 days after the incident, I developed a pea-sized swelling of a lymph node in my left armpit. It was not exactly painful but bothersome and tender to deep pressure. I was greatly worried it could be Acute Retroviral Syndrome.I did take ibuprofen and amoxicillin-clavulenic acid antibiotic without medical prescription, out of worry and fear. The enlarged lymph node persisted for around 8 days before it completely disappeared. A few days later, I developed swelling of the submandibular lymph nodes beneath both sides of the jaw. It was NOT accompanied by sore throat or erythema of my tonsils, as confirmed by a doctor. These, too, disappeared a few days later. Almost one week later, I developed bothersome feeling in my right armpit, but no enlarged lymph node could be palpated.

I did NOT get skin rash, night sweats, low grade fever or diarrhea.

A few weeks later, I got a couple cold sores on the margins of my lips. I used Zovirax ointment and Zovirax Tab 400 mg 5x/day for a week and they resolved. These cold sores do recur every few weeks, and I use Zovirax ointment for them when they do.

I am scared to death. I am too scared to go and get tested. Please tell me what to do. Can these manifestations be attributed only to Herpes? Could it be ARS? I think it can't be infectious ononucleosis because I did not develop skin rash after I used the antibiotic. Please let me know what you think, and advise me if I should go get tested.

To let u all just know so that u can stop worrying about the oral risks, just received my test results 15 minutes back and guess what? they are NEGATIVE.............

Hello

You will not get HIV through being sucked.

The illnesses you have had are non-specific and probably not of any particular consequence. I don't know what they are because I haven't seen or examined or tested you. I would be sure though that the symptoms are not HIV.

Infectious mononucleosis does often give a rash with amoxicillin but I'm afraid that is not diagnostic.

If you remain unwell then you should visit a doctor instead of trying to diagnose and treat yourself.

No worries you Can't get HIV from oral sex no way this what the doctor told me the risk is practically zero. so don't worry i had practically the same incident and i got scared to go tested and i didn't you just have to convince yourself that you aren't in the window period. and you simply CAN'T get HIV from oral sex. i seeked a psychologist to feel better, im getting over it but on the way.
take care of yourself and you'll hear it from the doctor
