Thank you so much for your help and time,
That was much appreciated & I wish you all the best.
that would be my recommendation. I would not worry further. EWH
Doctor thank you so much for the detailed answer,
Thus to summarize what I understood from the above:
This was a no risk incident & I should forget about it and move on.
Kindly inform me if you agree so we can confidently close this thread.
Best Regards
Welcome to our Forum. I'll be pleased to comment. Thanks as well for your careful description of your exposure- it helps. Let me also congratulate you for your decision to use a condom for this exposure- this is the right thing to do with any new partner, CSW or otherwise. From a medical perspective this was a low to no risk exposure. The basis for my comments are several. Even before we evaluate your exposure, please remember that most CSWs do not have HIV or even other STIs for that matter. More importantly from the perspective of your exposure:
1. Your finger wound as a day old and had stopped bleeding. Wounds seal off quickly, restoring the barrier to infection that intact skin represents quickly. Thus your day old wound does not markedly increase your risk for infection.
2. Although it is not intuitive, the fact is that in persons with HIV vaginal secretions tend to contain about the same or sometimes even higher HIV concentrations than blood. Thus your risk for exposure is no higher than if your partner had not been menstruating
I would not worry that removal of the condom represented a meaningful risk for you and see not medical need for testing related to the events you describe.
I hope these comments are helpful. EWH.
Just to clear one thing out:
My finger bled heavily once I had my accident. The bleeding stopped after 20 minutes.
I don't know if this info is required for your assessment as well.
Thanks,
