HIV risk from lap dance

Hello,
Thanks in advance for your help with this query. I went to a strip club last night and got a lap dance. The stripper kept her panties on the entire time. I was wearing a light pair of pants with boxers underneath, a t shirt, and a sweat shirt. I have been very concerned over the course of the day that perhaps at some point of the lap dance, if the head of my penis could have slipped out of the top of my pants and been directly exposed to the strippers underwear. I don't recall this as happening, but suspect it as there is a little dried ejaculate near the button of my pants. If the head of my penis was exposed to the strippers panties (which may have been soaked with vaginal fluid), would I be at risk for HIV or other STDs? I am fairly certain that her panties were on the entire time. I'm married and worried about having relations with my wife. I am dying of feelings of guilt right now. Should I not have relations with my wife and get tested in 6-8 weeks?

No, you are not at risk for other STDs either.

Try to move on.  Put this behind you.  EWH

Am I at risk for any other STD's? I see the logic in what you're saying but for some reason it's so difficult to accept that there is no risk. Perhaps it's the intense guilt I'm struggling with. I even start to wonder if it's possible that penetration occurred but that seems that my mind is playing tricks on me (almost a vicious cycle of anxiety and reassurance). I'm going to try and move on and go with you on this one doc. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to our Forum.  This was a no risk exposure.  It is statistically unlikely that the lap dancer ha HIV- very few do.  Even if she did, HIV is transmitted in adults only through penetrative ano-genital or genital sex an through injection of infected material deep into tissue.  No penetration, no transmission.  Further there are no instances in which HIV has been transmitted through clothing-even women's underwear soaked with vaginal secretions.

There is no reason for concern.  There is no medical reason for testing.  I hope you find my comments helpful.  EWH
