What is my risk

I need an assessment of my risk as I am unsure what to make of this.  I am a male, 22 years old, and I met up with another male and I am not circumsised.  First, we engaged in some kissing and I am worried because I had some problems with shaving before that and I'm worried that while he kissed my neck, there could have been exchange of fluids.  He had a sun burn on his neck as well, so I worry that I too could have drawn some of his fluids during kissing his neck.  We also lied next to each other.  His penis was erect and he was wearing shorts, but no underwear/boxers and it up against my back/anus area.  I was wearing a pair of shorts and boxers. At this point, I saw some pre-ejaculatory fluid on his shorts making me worried.  Additionally, we both unintentially scratched each other with our nails on our fingers and toes and I'm worried about the potential for transmission from that if it potentially caused bleeding, etc.  Finally, he gave me a hand job touching my entire penis including the urethra opening and as I said before I am uncircumsised..  As lubricant, I believed he used his own fluids from his penis (semen and pre-ejacluatory fluids) and his saliva.  I eventually ejaculated.  During the process of my hand job, we were very touchy and I'm worried that his hands with his body fluids could have come in direct contact via his hands (or maybe the bed sheets) with my mouth/lips, ears, nose, eyes.

So, I have the following questions:
1.  What is my HIV risk?
2.  Has anyone gotten HIV from the behaviors that I described before?
3.  This may sound ridicilious, but given that we engaged in scratching on accident, is it possible for HIV infected blood to remain underneath one of nails remaining the ability to infect?
4.  Do I need any sort of HIV or other STD testing from this?

Thank you Doctors!!!

Re-read my original reply and get this straight once and for all:  if neither of you put your penis inside the other's mouth or anus, there was no risk for HIV.  Period.

Sorry, doctor.  This is my absolute last comment.  I have anxiety so sometimes it makes me nervous regarding things like this.

When we were laying next to each other while he was wearing shorts but with no underwear, and I was wearing shorts/boxers and his erect penis was rubbing up against my backside/buttocks, his shorts were wet with pre-semen.

Does this in any way warrant a need for testing?

Thank you Doctor for your remarks.

I just wanted to see if the following changes your opinion.

a.  My oral cavity isn't the best state with burns from hot foods and drinks, cuts, and a canker sore.

b.  We also engaged in nipple activity in which we sucked each others nipples.

Welcome to the HIV forum.

HIV is not transmitted by kissing, hand-genital contact, or skin-skin contact of any kind, even if it involves the genitals.  Between men, if there is no insertion of a penis into the anus, there really is no risk; even oral sex is such low risk that some experts believe it carries no risk at all.  The exposures you describe were risk free.  So the replies to your specific questions are:

1) Zero risk or close to it.
2) Probably not; if so, it is the extreme exception.
3) The scratching activities probably also were no risk.
4) No testing is required after this sort of contact.

On a side note:  Interesting that you mention your circumcision status.  Of course that has no bearing, since your penis wasn't exposed to a potential source of infection.

So no risk, no worries, no need for HIV testing (unless you need a negative test result for psychological reassurance).  However, in the future, get in the habit of asking partners about HIV status before getting involved -- even when safe sex (like you describe here) is the only intended activity.  In the heat of the moment, sometimes things progress farther than intended -- in which case, you need the extra insurance your partner isn't infected.

I hope this helps.  Stay safe--  HHH, MD

Just to clarify, his penis was up against my back/anus area as he was wearing shorts with no underwear and I was wearing shorts and boxers.

Also, the state of my mouth is burned from a hot sandwich and coffee earlier today and I feel a canker sore and potential cut as well.

Please tell me that you read this comment in your analysis so I can put this episode behind me.

Thank you!
