received unprotected blowjob

dear doc,

1,5 weeks ago i received an unprotected blowjob from a prostitute in moscow. after the episode i have felt rash/tingling in my penis and have recently got white spots in it and some sort of rash. seems like i have got somekind of STD, what could it be, yeast maybe? I got tested from chlamydia and some other bacterial STD both came back negative. Could it be Herpes? What are the odds that I would have received HIV in getting the unprotected blowjob and have some people actually got it from this kind of exposure?

For starters, if you got HIV from receipt of oral sex, you would be the first in which this clearly happened that either of us have heard about.  And this includes issues of gum diseases, poor oral hygiene or receipt from a person who had bleeding in their mouth.  thus, HIV- not a concern.

As for other STDs, there are possibilities but they are, to be honest, uncommon.  The most common STDs transmitted through receipt of oral sex are NGU, gonorrhea, or herpes due to HSV-1, if you have never had cold sores (the immunity from cold sores is protective) and the person giving oral has a cold sore present at the time of sex.  Yeast would be uncommon.  Chlamydia and HSV-2 are effectively never tranmitted in this way.  Syphilis could be but it is very, very rare.

For  you, there is no substitute for being examined by a trained clinician.  We do not make diagnoses over the net out of fairness to you and as an ethical issue for us.   As for what you have, tough to say- you need an exam.  However, it does NOT sound like herpes or a yeast infection.  It could well be some other process unrelated to your exposure at all.

Hope this helps.  EWH

After response from me or Dr. Hook, you may not go to the other alternate opinions, and you may not post your own new or follow-up questions outside your own thread.  I deleted both your comments.  Don't try again.

The information you provided has no impact on my opinion.  HIV does cause swollen lymphnodes but so does many other, far more common infections.  As for your STD Clinic, choose who you want to believe,  You could also ask the folks at your STD Clinic if they have ever seen such a case.  Neither Dr. Handsfield nor I have.  You ask us our opinion and, based on our combined experience and careful reading of the medical literature, you got it.  When you get your test results, let us know.  EWH

Thank you for your comment Edward. However, as a follow up to the question I posed I can inform the following:

- about 1,5 weeks from the encounter my lymph glands in neck and chin got larger
- a few days later also the lymph glands in my armpits got larger and slightly tender for touch
- other than that I have experienced mild flu like symptoms but have had no fever so far. Anyway my lymph glands have stayed larger for the past week or so.

I consultated in a local STD clinic and they claimed that HIV can indeed transfer also in receiving an unprotected blowjob. I have never earlier witnessed enlargened lymph glands in my armpits. If not HIV, what else can cause it. Do I have reason to worry and can I get some tests done prior to the 3 month deadline to rule out HIV?

I'm not the doc here but quick replies usually help relax people (trust me I know) but Docs actually are busy! Even though they are prompt enough

from what I have read from the docs here

Your chances of getting HIV from blow job = 0

As far as other STD's it could be a possibility. I'll leave that to the Doc's
