Risky encounter?

Doctor:

I have a question regarding a recent exposure. I have never been overly active sexually. However, the other night I had a moment of weakness. I went to dinner with a guy (I'm a gay male) and we ended up back at my place. One thing led to another and we were on my bed, shirts off. Basically, the evening went like this. We had a lot of body contact with shirts off but jeans and underwear on. There was also a lot of body kissing. We did not french kiss however. We did rub each others genitals both on the outside and inside of our jeans and hump with jeans and undies on. He also rubbed my butt/and anus very very briefly with his finger, but it never penetrated. There was absolutely no penetrative anal or oral sex. My questions are as follows:

1. Can body contact and kissing spread HIV or other STD's? Has anything I mentioned been a risk for either? My AC was off so we were sweating a lot. I'm not sure if sweat in such high volumes can get into micro-abrasions or cuts and possibly infect. Can it?

2. We reached inside each others jeans and underwear and on a few occasions rubbed each others bare and erect penises. There was no masturbation, just light rubbing. Would this be a risk for HIV or other STDs?

3. We did hump each other with our jeans on where my penis was too his penis and then his penis was too my anus. However during this, as I said, we had jeans and undies on. Any risk?

4. I took a shower afterward, however my water is slow draining. I usually stand ankle deep, in water, while showering. As I was washing could an HIV or STD get into my athletes foot because I am standing in the water?

5. I tested HIV/STD free a month ago, prior to that I hadnt had sex in a year. This is my only incident. Do I need to test before entering a new relationship?

Thank-you so much for your time.

With all due respect, I think that your imagination is getting the best of you. The idea that this person might have had sex with you without your awakening and while you were asleep is simply not realistic. Take a deep breath and relax.  You are not at risk.  EWH

Doctor Hook:

I really appreciate your reassurances. I have one last question. It is hard for me to even rationalize I am so guilty over letting myself lapse like this. At this point I just have no where else to turn for guidance. The guy did sleep over at my house with me. When I woke up in the morning I kinda freaked out thinking "what if he somehow penetrated me unprotected while I slept and I didnt realize it" I am not very experienced with anal sex and had no soreness, cramping, or anything out of the ordinary in my anal region in the morning. Except I had some morning gas. I also slept in underwear, shorts, and a shirt. He slept in underwear under the covers, whereas I slept above them. I even half joked with him (did not really want to confront him directly about the matter because that would be accusing him of rape essentially and I have no evidence of that) about it. I said, "man I was out like a light last night you could have taken advantage of me" to which he replied something like "I wouldnt do that, I like you and respect you" then I pressed alittle more and he said, "that is only one way pleasure and I like and respect you" I know I am feeling really guilty for the whole incident. I woke up twice in the middle of the night. Once he was just laying with his arm around me (still under the covers and me above) and the second we were back to back. I am guessing I would have felt him take my clothes off and penetrate me. I wasnt drinking at all and the only meds I took was Propanolol for a condtion. Not sure that would have kept me in a deep sleep. Do you think I am being overly paranoid?

Welcome to the Forum. the activities you describe placed you at no risk whatsoever for HIV.  HIV is transmitted only trough penetrative genital or ano-genital sexual contact.  Not by kissing, mutual masturbation or touching through clothing.  The virus is also not transmitted from person to person by transfer of genital secretions on a person's hands.  Thus, there is no reason for concern and no need for testing related to the exposure you describe.

In answer to your specific quesiton:
1. Can body contact and kissing spread HIV or other STD's? Has anything I mentioned been a risk for either? My AC was off so we were sweating a lot. I'm not sure if sweat in such high volumes can get into micro-abrasions or cuts and possibly infect. Can it?

No, this was no risk.  HIV is not transmitted by contact with another person's sweat.

2. We reached inside each others jeans and underwear and on a few occasions rubbed each others bare and erect penises. There was no masturbation, just light rubbing. Would this be a risk for HIV or other STDs?

No, this was zero risk.

3. We did hump each other with our jeans on where my penis was too his penis and then his penis was too my anus. However during this, as I said, we had jeans and undies on. Any risk?

No, HIV is not transmitted through clothing or without penetration.

4. I took a shower afterward, however my water is slow draining. I usually stand ankle deep, in water, while showering. As I was washing could an HIV or STD get into my athletes foot because I am standing in the water?

No, contact with water would kill HIV immediately. further, HIV would not penetrate through atheletes foot lesions.

5. I tested HIV/STD free a month ago, prior to that I hadnt had sex in a year. This is my only incident. Do I need to test before entering a new relationship?

No there is no risk whatsoever from this event (It was really not an exposure).  No testing is needed.

I hope you find my answers helpful and reassuring. Congratulations to your commitment to safe sex. EWH

I forgot to add: I got some of his pre-cum on my hand while touching is penis. I washed it off probably 10 mins later. Also, he sucked my nipple really hard. I didnt notice him drawing blood, but it was definitely red and swollen. Are either of these two scenarios problematic?
