Do not be paranoid. Believe your test results. Final comment. EWH
Dear Doctor
I would like to share with you my results. I went to a lab. The Doctor told me that he will perform an alere determine duo
However the day after when I have received the results it was written that it has been done with vidas hiv duo quick (0,05 indice). I don't understand why he changed the test. Maybe the first one was positive?
I did another vidas duo quick the day after. 0,07 negative
I hope to reveive your comments even if I said that my previous comment would be the last
Thanks a lot
Yes, these tests will be entirely conclusive at this time. You should move on with your life. EWH
Dear Doctor Hook
It will be my last question! Since all these episodes I am still worried! I want to move on in my life and 7 weeks after the deep kissing I am planning to do an extra test for peace of mind!
The Lab I have visited is performing 4th generation tests on ECLIA by Cobas Roche! Is it reliable like ELISA tests? Should I trust them after 7 weeks and move on in my life?
I hope you will give me a reply very soon!
Thank you very much Doctor
Please stop looking for signs of HIV. There is no reason for concern, including your current sore throat. Take care. EWH
Dear Doctor Hook
This will be my last question of this thread! 3 weeks after the "exposure" I have developed a sore throat with white spots in my throat! It gave me headache and I feel very uncomfortable
Can these symptoms be related to ARS symptoms? Or should I forget and continue unprotected sex with my wife?
Thank you very much for your great job in this forum and for everything you do!
Regards
I understand the blood collection process and still would not be worried. EWH
Dear Doctor
Thank you very much for your quick reply and your helpful comments
I will try to explain what I saw in the lab. When the lab makes a blood collection they plug the needle in a plastic tube and they inject the needle. Right after the injection they plug the tube where the blood is collected. I am talking about the plastic tube that allow the lab to plug in the needle and the blood collection tube
In this plastic tube I have seen a very little volume of blood and this situation makes me worried actually! I hope I have expressed myself correclty and i am sorry for my english
Thanks a lot
Welcome to our Forum. I had a lit bit you trouble following the situations that you mention but think I understood and will do my best to answer. To summarize however, I see no reasons for concern
First, with regard to your exposure in October, the HIV test results you received 9 weeks later were definitive and should be believed. They prove that you were not infected through the exposure you mentioned.
Second, your threesome was not a risk for HIV. Contact of skin with a partners genital secretions, directly or indirectly, does not lead to HIV infection, nor does kissing of any sort, even if the person or someone they just kissed ad HIV. Still no risk.
third, i would not worry about the possibility of contaminated blood collection equipment. Professional laboratories and their staff take many careful precautions to avoid any sort of contamination which might lead to infection.
In summary then, I see no reason for you to be concerned about any of the exposure that you mention, nor any reason for testing. I hope my assessments and comments are helpful to you. EWH
