STD RISK

I am a 35 year old male who made the mistake of his life. I was drunk on night and visit a sexworker in Copenhagen for the first time. The sexworker was a female 25 years old from Poland. She startede to give me a blowjob for about 2 minuts with out condom I did not cum. I stopped the hole thing after 2 minuts because I was feeling guilty as hell. We did’not do anything else. No intercourse.

I am married.

I have had no sympthoms of any kind. The incident toke place 29. jan 2011.

What are the chances that I have a STD when it was ”only” a blowjob that I was reciving for 2 minuts with out ejaculation and condom.

Should I be worried?

I hope you can help me?

There are no figures regarding the others.  Somewhat higher but, as I said, if you really are worried, you need to be tested for gonorrhea and NGU.  As I also said however, these problems would have been symptomatic by now in the vast majority of persons who got them.  If you choose to get tested, I am confident your tests will be negative.

I recommend against getting tested for HSV.  Your chances of a falsely positive blood test are far higher than your chance of infection.  EWH

Welcome to our Forum.  Overall this was a low risk exposure.  Most commercial sex workers do not have STDs, including HIV and even when one does, most exposures do not lead to transmission.

There is no risk for HIV from the encounter you describe.  The quoted figure for HIV risk, if one has oral sex with an infected partner is less than 1 in 10,000 and, in my estimation that is too high. Some experts state there is no risk at all from oral sex.  Neither of us on this site have ever seen or reading the medical literature of a convincing instance in which HIV was passed by oral sex.  The sort of exposure you describe does not even warrant testing.

As far as other STDs are concerned, oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs.  Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   If you had gotten herpes or syphilis, a a penile sore would have appeared long before now.   Similarly, if you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection) by now.  As I said, even if your partner had an STD (any STD and it is likely she did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.  If you feel you must, you could be checked for gonorrhea and NGU with a swab test taken from your penis.

At this time, I suspect there is little to worry about in terms of STD or HIV.  I hope my comments will prove helpful to you in moving forward from this.  EWH
