This is a new question. I will respond this one time and then this thread is over. If you have more questions you need to re-post, remembering that our rules are that you should only post twice in any six month period.  If the condom broke your exposure was unprotected.  Thus four weeks after your exposure, if your test was going to become positive aboout 85-90% of those that are going to be positive will be.  End of thread.  Any further questions will be deleted.  EWH

After making the response above I went and looked at your interaction with Teak.   While Teak often chimes into some of our threads and a typically agree with most of his assessments, in this situation we may disagree.  The fact of the matter is, he is quoting a conservatively crafted, federally approved statement that is meant as a generalization.  When you ask either of us out opinions, you get them in the context of your situation and the history you provide.  That is the difference.  You have to decide who and what you want to believe.  This is not a debate.  EWH

teak is not a health care provider.  I would suggest you not pay attention to him.  EWH

The 12 week recommendation is a very conservative approach which is given to cover all possibilities.  On the other hand, my comments are related to your specific situation.  EWH

Sorry to hear about your sore throat.  It is not related to HIV.

Your chances of having gotten HIV from this exposure are extraordinarily low.  Here's why:

1,  Chances are, your partner did not have HIV.  Most people do not.
2.  Your chance of getting HIV, if he was infected is less than one in 1000 per exposure.
3.  You have had an HIV test at 8 weeks.  After 8 weeks between 98 and 99% of tests that are going to become positive will have.

When you put all of these facts together, your chances of being infected from the exposure you describe is less than one 100th of 1%.  If you get retested in the future, you will be a little bit, but not much more sure that you are not infected.  If I were you I would take the results I have, forget about your risk of having gotten infected and move on with your life.  I would not get further testing.

Hope this helps.  EWH
