worried about very first sexual encounter unprotected vaginal and oral sex

Hi im a 23 year old blk male who has had my first sexual encounter in january 2007 with a 38yr old white female i work with ive known her about a year. At first i had a condom on then took it off when she said she didnt have anything and she said she had her tubes tied so we had unprotected vaginal sex and i preformed oral on her but i had a cavity on one of my back teeth. she said she has only had one partner in her life which was her husband of 22 yrs which she isnt sleeping with anymore. i noticed a slight burning when i urinated later on and still do off and on now but that wasnt the problem. we were talking around 9 or ten weeks after when she told me that her husband use to inject cocaine a few years ago.  Then i started reading all the symptoms about hiv then i started thinking i was having them that same day she told me. i was a nervous wreck. i went to her to talk about it she said she didnt have aids and said her husband doesnt have anything but you never know because she never said she got tested.she said the last time they had sex was about 7 months ago. i like her and dont want this to ruin anything because i would like to continue seeing her and just use protection from now on. The second encounter last week i used protection except when i got a blow job from her. i tried taking the home access test twice but couldnt get enough blood and that was the scariest thing ever because i was convinced i was infected with hiv. well i would just like some advice on what you think and if i could of gotten hiv from the sexual encounter i described . thank you

Injecting cocaine? never heard of that before!

Even if she had HIV, the risk was approximately 1 in 2000. Don't bother with home access, go to hivtest.org and find a testing site near you where it can be done for free by people who know what they're doing. HIV + people have blood taken all the time; the fact that you had problems drawing blood is in no way indicative of your status.

Highly, highly unlikely you were infected:)

As dobber21 already responded (below), you describe a low risk exposure.  You can judge better than I can whether your partner is telling the truth about her own health, but most likley she is.  Get a grip and put life's risks in perspective: the chance you caught HIV are less than the chance you're going to die in the coming week from some accident or illness.  If you're going to worry about HIV in this circumstance, you also need to decide never to drive, to not cross busy streets, and not take commercial flights.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
