Anal sex

Hi, doctor, about two weeks ago, I has sex with a CSW whose HIV status is unknown. Let me explain what happened. She put on a condom on my penis and gave oral sex for a while. After which when I touched the condom, i felt as though there was a large hole on it. But, I ignored and proceeded to give anal sex. When I inserted my penis into her anus, I ejaculated within seconds. I am unsure whether I managed to penetrate my penis into her rectum. When i took out my penis, the condom was still intact. When I removed the condom, the semen spilled onto the bed.

My questions is
(1) Was there really a hole on the condom (given that the semen only spilled when I removed the condom)?
(2) WHat are my chances of getting infected. DO I NEED TO GO FOR A TEST?

Please help me

Welcome to our Forum. First, a direct answer to your questions, then a comment:

1.  The condoms did not break. When condoms break, they break wide open so that there is no question that they are broken.  Condoms do not lead "a little".
2.  Condoms protected sex is safe sex.  You do not know your partner's status and as it turns out, most CSWs do not have HIV.  Even if they do, a properly used condom is highly protective.  Considering these two facts, your risk is close to zero and I see no need for testing.

Now a comment.  Condom protected sex is safe sex and I congratulate you for your condom use. In general a condoms should only be used for one sex act however so, rather than using the same condoms for receipt of oral and then engaging in rectal sex, in the future it would be in your best interest to change condoms between events.

Take care.  EWH

1.  As you might imagine, this has never been studied.  Self reports of the duration of sex are notoriously unreliable.  It makes sense that the longer an exposure the greater the risk but that has not been proven.

2.  Again, how can one be sure. Rectal sex should be considered rectal sex.

Hi doctor, your comments were truly helpful and gave me a big relief. However, I would like to clear a doubt. This questions could be helpful for others too. I mentioned that I ejaculated within few seconds when I inserted my penis into the anus ((roughly 10 seconds).

1) Does the amount of time the penis was inside the anus (or in the vagina, for that matter) has an effect on infection?

2) If penis was inserted into the anus, but did not penetrate into the retum, would it make a difference?
