Dr Hunt Need your Advise and Opinion

Hi Doc
I had sex with CSW 63 days back  as far of my knowledge, condom was intact since i saw my semen was in the condom, Not sure about the quality of the condom, i dunno whether it was old one or lambskin

I removed and cleaned the fluids and penis(uthera) with same tissue after 3-5mts, this is my worry

i read on this forum that  the you cant be infected with protected sex and cant be infected by rubbing the fluids

I got antibody(ELISA)test at 28 days and it was negative, if i was infected wouldnt i have tested test +ve at week 4?

my doc did RNA test at 14 days to see viral load, it was -ve, (www.pomlabtest) says after 9-11 days you can detect infection with this test but other testing sites prefer DNA, not sure who is right

i have not got fever or rash, i read most people with ARS get these?

i had diarreah on and off for 1 day in last 2 months, once at 7day, once at 17 and once at 27 day

my main concern is swollen nodes, I had nodes in from 2nd  week and at week 4 test my doctor said they are not swollen nodes, he is a primary care doc, i am havent gone to hiv specalist, but i am feeling them everyday

i read from this forum that if its ARS they come around 2-4 weeks and stay 1-2 weeks, they all come once and leave once but  even at 63 days after exposure  i see both sides of my temples are swollen

my jaw hurts with swollen nodes, my earlobes hurt

if i got treatment for CIDP in 2004( even though it was misdiagnosed), i am diabetic, would that delay my testin

please give me your opinion

If its protected why am i seeing all these symptoms, how good is 4th week test?

Please post your opinion

The reason for your symptoms is something other than HIV.  As you point out, protected sex is safe sex. Cleaning your penis with a tissue following sex does not change this.  Furthermore, you have multiple negative HIV tests which indicate that you are not infected.  There are many things that can cause symptoms such as yours and to assume that they are due to HIV represents faulty thinking, perhaps in part related to guilt and anxiety related to the exposure you describe.

If you had significant, meaningful lymph node swelling you doctor would have been able to detect it.  You do not need to see a specialist to detect swollen lymph nodes. Furthermore, even if you had swollen nodes, lymph nodes can swell due to any of a large number of infections both viral and bacterial, as well as due to allergic reactions, due to autoimmune disorders and other problems.  Thus, if swollen lymph nodes are present, you need not worry about them in relationship to HIV because they are such a non-specific problem.  When a person has swollen lymph nodes, the chance that they are due to HIV can be measured as a fraction of 1%.

Lymph nodes are not present at the temple and how large nodes must be to call them swollen depends on the situation and context.  I'm confident your doctor can make this judgment.

Hope this helps.  There is no evidence that your symptoms are not due to HIV.  EWH
