There must have been millions if not billions of instances during the AIDS era when people both kissed infected persons and brushed their teeth about the same time, yet no known transmissions by kissing. Obviously this can't make much of a difference in risk.
Respected Dr HHH
Thank you for the reply. I will go by your advice.
I have one final question. I brushed my teeth before the deeping kissing. Deeping kissing was done before and after the Oral Sex. Would brushing my teeth have any risk ?
Thanks again DOC for answering the queries. I will go by your advice. The above query would be the final one.
The STD clinic tests those women with great regulariy and almost never find any to be positive. The overall risk of HIV in UAE appears to be pretty much zero.
Respected Dr. HHH
Thank you for answering my queries. I have gained some peace of mind.
The director of the STD clinic in dubai is right in relation to people who come on employment visa, they are screened for HIV. The CSW are from eastern european and far east asia they come to dubai in tourist visa stay for three months and beyond, they are not screened for HIV. I thought i will share this information with you.
Thank you doctor.
Welcome to the HIV forum.
Because this and the STD forum get pretty frequent questions from persons who describe exposures like yours, not long ago I had an email dialog with the director of the main STD clinic in Dubai (see http://www.stdclinicdubai.com/). He confirms that HIV is extremely rare in UAE, and that includes sex workers.
In addition to the low chance your partner had HIV, you had safe sex and couldn't have caught HIV even if she were infected. The virus is rarely transmitted by oral sex even when unprotected, and it is not possible to get infected through an intact condom. Kissing and saliva contact are no risk at all. (I am very skeptical you found a CDC report that indicates a high risk by kissing.)
1) No, you do not need testing.
2,3) Zero risk.
4) No treatment of any kind.
If you remain concerned despite my advice, you are free to get HIV tested for psychological support, i.e. if you need a negative test to allow you to get beyond your fear. If so, go to the STD clinic. It is true that if positive, you would be deported to your home country, but there is no chance you are infected. And even if you were, you would need to leave anyway in order to be treated, since treatment isn't available to non-UAE citizens.
Good luck-- HHH, MD
