I have mild right spastic hemiplegia/paralysis (Cerebral PalsyBell's palsy Cerebral palsy Cerebral palsy - resources Parkinson’s disease). A lot of talking is going around about the botoxBotox Botox cosmetic pumps these days. I'm kind of interested in it but do not know enough about it. I would like your opinion. Is it possible that it could work for spastic cerebral palsyBell's palsy Cerebral palsy Cerebral palsy - resources Parkinson’s disease? What are "just in general" the costs for the pumps, surgery, replacement botoxBotox Botox cosmetic, replacement tubes, etc? What are the risks (short/long term)? Side effects? Is it possible to build up a tolerance? What would happen if the tube popped out of the spine? Chances of that happening? How (in lamens terms) could it help someone with spastic muscles? Where in the spine do they exactly implant the device?
I know this is a lot to ask, I don't have a doctor right now, nor money. But if/when I get back onto my financial feet again, this is something I might look closer into doing. In the meanwhile, I'm trying to get the pro's and con's and trying to understand it better. Once I do that I should hopefully have a better idea of whether it is worth the risks, the benefits and the costs. You know, all that fun stuff. Anyhow, please answer when you've got a chance.
P.S. - Anyone with personal experiences dealing with the pump is also welcome to answer. I'd like to hear all sides whether from doctors or patients. Thanks.
