Forehead never healed--A lot of swelling

Good Morning, my question is--why has my forehead never healed after an injury? This is not the first incident of me not healing properly and I have done a lot of research but am still uncertain.  If you could please read the rest & provide any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Quick Background (Directly related):
-I had bumped foreheads with someone in '08' and was left with swelling in the middle of my forehead that never went away & I never had that looked at due to no subsequent issues.
-10 days ago, I was hit really hard in the forehead (open handed) by an 8 yr old that I work with (I work with children who have behavioral issues). I had my glasses on at the time and I was left with A LOT of swelling..again not just a bump but the entire area, primarily the bone over my eyebrows that now protrudes a great deal. However, I have no more tenderness and only slight discoloration by eyes and nose. I was seen by the work clinic and an X-Ray was taken the day after. The X-Ray was clean and I had iced every hour for the first 5 days.

Quick Background (Other issues):
-I have had 2 concussions in the past 5 yrs.
-In '05' I had knocked the left side of my face at the top of my cheek bone and the swelling never went down.
-Recently the back of my skull felt diminished in size & I was told I have a severe Vitamin D deficiency.
*I started seeing a neurologist again about 2 months ago (so before this forehead injury) and had just gotten and MRI of the brain done the morning before the injury...some luck, huh? The MRI was clean and I am waiting for more answers and to tell my neuro. about this injury now.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Since the swelling does not subside, it is possible that you have a collagen disorder or diabetes along with Vit D deficiency, making it difficult for complete healing to occur. Sometimes hematomas (localized collection of blood) and contusions get localized by formation of a capsule around them and do not heal. If you have Vit D deficiency then you could be bleeding easily from bone injury.
Please consult a neurologist and ask for CT scan of head. Also consult an endocrine specialist and get serum calcium, parathyroid hormone, thyroid homones assessed and take Vit D supplements. Take care!

Hi,

Thank you very much for the advice as it has now been nearly 3 weeks and I am still swollen. I have an appointment with my neurologist in 2 days and will seek out an endocrine specialist.

Thank you!
