sharp pains to my head

I get sharp pains to my head ever so often and they last about 1 to 2 seconds. They occur about 3-5 minutes apart. It is very painful. I hear it may just be a nerve problem that will soon just go away. Will a chiropractor help this problem? I also hear it is more common them I may think. So far it has gone on about 3 days. It has happened before and it does usually go away. I just want to know a list of things it could be. Thanks. Lisa

These could be migraine, tension headaches, cluster headaches or even due to spinal nerve compression at upper cervical levels. Since they come on and off they are most likely cluster headaches or due to nerve compression. They could also be due to some tumor in brain.
