If fontanels or "soft spots" are closed too soon this is known as craniosynostosis, which is the premature closure of the cranial sutures, the fontanels are the points at which the sutures meet, they stay open so the brain has room to grow, and they fuse together at certain points in time, the posterior or back one first; if they close too soon they can cause an increase in intracranial pressure, restricting brain growth, and require surgery to open them. seizures are associated with microcephaly which could be a possibility.
Epilepsy is hereditary but usually manifests itself in childhood or adolescence. Infections can precipitate it as well as injuries to the brain. Tumors or strokes can cause epilepsy. Things that cause stress on the body like drugs, alcohol, and low blood-sugar can trigger it. Lack of sleep can increase susceptibility. Blood tests may help to reveal high blood-sugar levels as well as heavy metals in the blood stream. You may want to see a good neurologist if you don't get satisfaction with the specialist that she is to see. As to the soft spot, I would rely more on a neurologists diagnosis, hope this helped.
