Need insurance

Hello my name is Felicia, I am a 21 yr old college student and my mom has recently had a heart attack and is unable to work.  So because she cannot work she is not longer covered for health insurance, but she does qualify for medicaid.  I however do not qualify because I am 21.  I do not have a full time job and cannot afford to pay a deductible for insurance.  I also cannot qualify for any Indiana medicaid programs appropriate for my age because I live in SC for school.  Is there any kind of out of state medicaid I could qualify for?  I really need to go to the dentist, and my obstetrician is worried that I may have cervical cancer, but I as well can't afford to get tested for that either.  What can I do?

Dear Felicia,

Each State has its own Medical Assistance program and eligibility requirements. In SC you can contact their state specific agency at toll free 888-549-0820 and/or visit them online at www.dhhs.state.sc.us to find out if and what you qualify for, based on their eligibility requirements.

Sincerely,

Amir Mostafaie
