Although doctors are unsure why this exaggerated blood pressure response during exercise occurs in otherwise healthy individuals, some suggest that it may be an early sign of cardiovascular disease and a risk factor for persistent high blood pressure.
They found that abnormally high blood pressures in response to exercise among the participants were associated with a poorer ability of the blood vessels to expand. This, say the researchers, suggests that endothelial cells that line the inside of blood vessel walls fail to dilate enough to handle the extra blood flow in such people, indicating early artery disease.
It is recommended not to rely on one test and because there are variations through the day it would be appropriate to average the readings. It is suggested to rely on the bp at rest to gather a fair representation of the blood pressure.
hi just interested in your high bp, have you seen a doctor about this what have they said???? i am only asking as i'm interested in bp as i can never work mine out i often shrug it off and think my damn machine is playing up mine sometimes reads the same pressure as yours there abouts. mine is normally 150/73 but often reads 170/135 but i just don't understand the readings, where can i find out any info on how to work out what the readings mean????
