to take the edge off with herbal remedies, there is mild like Chamomille tea, Passion flower, more intense like Valerian or Kava Kava. Most all of these can be gotten in tea form, capsule or extract. If you have severe allergy to ragweed, you might not want to take Chamomille. Kava Kava is pretty strong and you wouldn't want to drive, etc... after taking that. Most sedating herbs shouldn't be taken if you are also taking sedative meds. Lemon Balm is also a good nervine, but if you have hypothyroids, you don't want to take it, as it can have a mild effect on the thyroids if taken very often. (it can slow down the thyroids in some people--very mildly) You can also get combination herbs at the herbal shops that combine several sedating herbs. Remember the more liquid it is, the faster it works. These are just not the same as taking a valium, or one of the sedatives by prescription, it is more of a subtle effect. Search websites for side effects on herbs just as you would meds.
so st johns is not a good thing to take, am looking for something to help me out a little to just to take the edge off, i have ativan but dont want to take it , but i get anxiety seems like just in the mornins waking hours at night am fine . so do you have any good ideals what would help just take the edge off and what about a good vit b
3mg is unlikely to have caused those symptoms in you. Probably your anxiety about having taken it is what caused the symptoms.
I took part of the 10 mg pill about 3mg, and it actually increased the PVCs & made me jittery. I really gave it a good try, but all through the night I woke up with PVCs & panic feelings. It's been 15 hours and I can't wait for it to be OUT of my system. It also caused weird dreams. Guess it's probably not for me. St. John's Wort did similar things and I gave it almost 2 weeks before I gave up on it.
The drugs are classed as anti-depressants, but are also used to treat anxiety and stress disorders, and this is why it's helpful in reducing PVCs.
If you're worried about trying it, start slowly. Start on 2 or 5 milligrams and inch up slowly to a therapeutic dose.
thanks so much for your reply. I may try it this weekend while I'm not working.
Any more people try it & it help??
I've been taking Lexapro for 6 months. Before that, I took a cousin of Lexapro, Celexa, for 5 years. Both of them drastically reduce my PVCs.
thanks for your input. I'm 22 years into this PVC stuff, so I've researched alot & tried lots of different things. But this is a new concept to me. I know that through the reuptake in serotonin, it "can'" give the shakes, but I guess I'll not know until I try it. I'll start out with half dosage of 10mg, and go from there. I've known for years that there is a lack of something in my body or too much of something, and that if I can correct that, then the PVCs will go away. I got a diploma in herbal medicine & learned alot about herbs in an effort to learn. Studied and tried many vitamins, etc.. Still searching.
Any body ever try the Lexapro & it help the PVCs?
its a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, in the simplest of terms, it stops your body for disposing of serotonin it should be using... it will not directly treat your pvc's.. if the number of pvc's are reduced, it would be secondary to the assumed less stress you will be having... if it does not reduce to pvc's, it may help you cope better with them mentally and not have anxiety.. A lot of people have success with this type of treatment... Sometimes it needs to be done jointly with counseling, and sometimes people are ok without the counseling... I hope this helps your pvc's! good for you for being proactive and not letting the pvc's control your life.
GOOD LUCK!!
