Can Ef improve with time ?

My father 62 years, has severe Dialated Cardiomyopathy, enlarged heart and MR valve lekage. His EF reduced from 35 % to 21% in last 4 months. Recently his MR problem has been addressed successfully reducing MR lekage, he belongs to NYH 2-3 and generally with little symptoms.
We have observed that as his MR problem increased, the EF decreased accordingly. Now my question is whether the successful treatment of Mr valve lekage could increase his EF in a long run. He is taking all sorts of common medicines for heart failure.
I will very much appreciate an answer to my most pressing question.

Thanks and regards

How was mitral valve regurgitation (MVR) reduced?  Is the former enlarged heart now normal size?

An enlarged (dilated) heart can/will reduce the EF.  Severe MVR can enlarge the heart and affect the EF, so if the MVR caused an enlarged heart, and now with no MVR and normal size heart there should an improvement of the EF.
