Can my take coenzyme Q10 along with her regular HBP medicene?

My Mom(age 71) has very high blood pressure  its like 200/160 and her doctor has put her on Metoprolol tar  50mgn.She has been on it for a month and it doesnt seem to be working. We were wondering if she should take Coenzyme Q10 along with this medicine?Or will this medicine interfere with this a beta blocker ?She feels tired and sluggish all the time and in her line of business she needs all the energy she can get.She owns her own house cleaning service and cleans at least 2 houses per day.

Thank-you for your post I will pass along the info.As I was researching her blood pressure medicine I found out that the generic brand can even raise the boold pressure more.I cannot remember the name brand exactly but I believe it to be Lispor. She has decided to go back to her doctor next week and tell her that this medicine isnt working for her.Its a kind that she will have to be weaned off of.I never thought to ask the pharmacist and I really appreciate the time you took for your post Thanks again !

I wonder if Labetolol would work any better?  Has she had her plasma free metanephrines and catecholamines checked?  There is a rare tumor of the adrenals that can cause very high blood pressure.  It is called a pheochromocytoma.  I hope your mom's dr. has ordered these tests, considering how high the BP is.  If you call your pharmacist they should be able to supply the info. re: the coenzyme-q-10.  They can be more accessible often times than the dr. for those kind of questions.
