copd & chf

My friends mother (73) has been diagnosed with emphysema since 6/1999 on oxygen 24/7 since, she was also diagnosed type 2 diabetic & chf in 7/2206,  she has edema all over, swollen hands & feet & puffy face, swollen shoulders & back & abdomen, i think puffy legs also, she is on numerous meds, buprofen 900mg, glyburide 2.5 mg, lisinoprol 12mg, omeprazole 20 mg, norvascz 2.5 mg, flovent afa 22 mg,atrovent fha, serevant 50mg, diprolene cream 60mg, taclonex 60mg, she sleeps pretty much the whole day, is house ridden, my question, what is life expectancy of a person with copd (emphysema) and type 2 diabetes, also chf for a year now, what can we expect with her progression from this point now, is she in end stage copd or chf by determining it with the meds she takes, her oxygen level is at 4 and 1/2 now. i heard that a person diagnosed with copd only survives up to 10 years & a 2 year survival rate for most with chf, is this true. Thanks

Hello to any one who can help me understand. I would appreciate it. I am 46 years old have had lots of heath issue like hodgkin lymphoma which have been in remission now for 15 years, skin cancer, Diabetis type two, Hypertension, osteoarthristis, just to mention a few. I was recently diagnose with COPD and have not been feeling good but I feel like I have fluid on my right lung. Also have past history of pneumonia. Should I go to the ER or go to my primary? What I want to is fluid retention in my lung to dangerous? One more thing my primary did put that I had CHF when I frist was diagnose. But didn't say any thing about it afterwards. Just that I have copd.

If the survival rate for those with chf is only 2 years, I am in biiiiiiiiig trouble.

The variables to survival rates, especially for some one this woman's age and with her ailments are far too great.  Perhaps your friend could discuss this with the mother's doctor.  He/she would have a far better idea than we would.

she can't take lisinopril 12mg because it does not come in that strenghth.  What do you mean her O2 level is at 41/2?  Liters?  That is  very unlikely for someone with COPD also.  If you want to know when she is going to die, ask God.  She doesn't sound too good though,
