Arteries too clogged for stent

Hello!

I was hoping I could get some information on this. My relative has had a heart attack. They were treated with angioplasty but the Dr. said it was not possible to insert a stent due to the amount of calcification. The Dr. also said that my relative was not a good candidate for bypass surgery. My question is, is this terrible news? What can be done if this is the case? What other treatment options are there?

Many thanks in advance for any insight.

Tom

Just to add, the best solution probably to finding such experience is approach teaching hospitals. This is usually where the top professors reside and they know their stuff.

Depending where the blockage is, there are some amazing tools for angioplasty. Basically there are Lasers, drills, cutters, slicers etc. However, what you need to do is find a cardiologist with the training to actually use them.
