Changes in blood pressure

I am 23, in good health, and my wife is 27 and also in good health. When I was a child playing football, my blood pressure was always high, like 150 to 170 systolic (can not remember the other numbers). Over the past couple of years my blood pressure has ranged from normal to just slightly higher than normal when I went to the doctor. My wife's blood pressure has always been normal or slightly below normal. Recently, she has been feeling very tired and occasionally faint. Everytime I check her blood pressure now it is around 95/50 or a little lower. The weird thing is that I also check mine and it has been reading about the same just a little lower, around 90/50. I have never had low blood pressure. Is there anythink that could be causing low blood pressure in both of us?

My brother is a Registered Nurse and recently had to change his gadge because it was giving bad readings.  The hospital he works at goes through a regular supply, so, yes they can go bad.  It would be a good idea to check it every so often.

As to what could cause the drop in pressure (assuming the cuff is correct), many things can do this for the individual but you mentione3d both of your pressures have dropped.  This is scary and something that needs attention quick!  With your wife's ill feeling sounds extremely frighting "to me".  I'd go to your Dr.'s and see if something could be found, maybe through a blood test(?).  What about CO2? could this be high in your house?  this would do it.  Something isn't right about your environment.

Thanks for the response. I have wondered about this house, we both seem to feel ill a little too often. I will see what I can figure out about it. My wife said that if it happens again she will go to the doctor, but she seems to delay things like this way too long. I will make sure she goes if it happens again. My best guess is that the cuff is wrong, but she has used it at the hospital recently and had readings similar to the machines, so im not sure. We will try another cuff and see if that is it and check on things with the house. I will post something if I find it out. Thanks.

Its a manual cuff. Could the cuff just give a wrong pressure reading? We havent had any problems with it in the past. Even if the cuff is wrong, im still curious why my pressure until a few years ago (and still occasionally, usually when im nervous) was always high but now is lower. Could it be anxiety, because I have been put on zoloft for anxiety to try and get balanced.

My wife has had three days where she was extremely tired and feeling faint often. I cant directly associate anything she does with these occasions and they seem to be random. What could cause this assuming our cuff is wrong or it is right and her blood pressure is low.

First, the obvious.  What are you using to take the BP?  Is it an automatic cuff?  If so, change the batteries and do it again.
