Chest Pain for the last 6 months!

I am a 30 year old female living in the UK.  I used to smoke 20 a day but have recently quit, rarely drink and don't really exercise that much but am not overweight.

In January this year, I suddenly became aware of a left sided chest pain.  This continued until I got to the point where my chest pains were prompting panic attacks!  I have since got these under control but am still suffering constant chest pains on and off every day.

I have had 3 ecg's, a chest X-ray and this week (all normal) and I will be having a CT scan and 24 hour event monitor  this week.  Most doctors have told me this is likely to be muscle related which I am willing to accept.  However, after taking Ibuprofen for the last 8 weeks to no effect, I am starting to wonder?

It doesn't seem to get any worse with movement BUT on occassions, my whole chest feels tender as if I've been punched all over it and I get sore breasts as though at the start of my cycle.  It does not intensify with exercise or stretching.  The pains are short and sharp, lasting a second maybe but they can come every 2 seconds for half an hour.

I wondered how likely it is to have muscular chest pain for 7 months and if not, can anyone shed some light on this please?

I have taken meds for acid reflux just incase which haven't helped either.

I have had almost identical chest pains for 7 months now with no diagnosis.  Lots and lots of tests but no answers.  Sure wish the pains would go away.

I surely dont feel as bad as i did 6 months ago.  No more painic attacks, just pain whenever im not doing anything.  Sounds weird.  No pain when i exercise or exert myself, only at rest.

Well, the CT scan came back normal as did the 24 hour event monitor and I was told to go away and assume this is all muscular as nothing has been picked up.  The Doctor did say to get a mammogram done as I have nodular breast tissue though but I'm not sure this could be the cause of my pains.

I am so relieved that my heart and lungs are fine but still so infuruated that I am no further forward than I was 9 months ago.  I am so fed up with not having a diagnosis.

Has anyone else experienced this?
