Daily chest pain in 24yr old female

I am a 24 year old female (almost 25) and for nearly six years I have experience chest pain almost daily.  Sometimes it is mild and other times it is a crushing feeling, that is so scary sometimes I feel like I am having a heart attack.  On two occassions, the most recent being last night, I went to the hospital because the pain was so crushing that I could not breathe.

I have had many, many blood tests, ECG's, Xrays (even a barium xray) done and I am always told they don't know what is wrong.  Last night a blood clot was ruled out, and each time a heart problem is ruled out.  I feel that at such a young age I should not have to deal with this.

I am wondering how possible it is that these chest pains are caused by anxiety disorder and/or panic attacks.  I have had panic attacks in the past, and I am the type or person who worries and stresses about everything.  The doctor last night said there is a chance that it was an anxiety attack.

Is there anything that I can or should be taking for anxiety?  I feel like it is taking over my entire life and no doctor can give me any answers.  My doctor is semi-retired and works 4 days a week, for only 4 hrs a day. He is hard to get an appt with and to be honest I do not trust him much, as he has misdiagnosed problems in the past.  To confirm, he misdiagnosed my lactose intolerance as a hernia and then gallstones.  Also, where I live you cannot get a new family doctor if you already have one.  He would have to fully retire.

Can anyone out there tell me what I should do?

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.  I am 27 years old and i can relate to your problem.  I don't get chest pain but my problem is i get a very high heart rate out of no were (palpitations) to the point were i have been sent to the hospital twice with a heart rate of over 200. The best advice i can give you is get a second opinion try to find a doctor that you are comfortable with (you need to see a cardiologist).. It took me over a year and many heart doctors to finally find the one that told me what was wrong and gave me all that answers i was looking for and the peace of mind that finally gave me my life back.  I was also diagnosed with anxiety disorder.. And YES anxiety can cause a lot of problems especially with the heart and muscles.  Like you i worry about everything and can not relax.  All that stress and tension build up and can be causing the pain. See if you can find a patten in the pain keep a journal of when, and how stressed you are when you get the pain see if there is a common factor and show it to you doctor.  That are a a lot of medicines for anxiety you can ask your doctor what would be best for you.  Medicines did not work for me so i do yoga 5 times a week and breathing meditation everyday.  I hope you find the help you need and i hope this gives you a bit of comfort and if you have any other question that i can help you with. feel free to ask.....
