Autoimmune Disease and L-Arginine

My MRI showed I have poor blood circulation in the brain.  The neurologist told me to take baby Aspirin.  When I took it, I got bruising.

One of my doctors told me to take L-Arginine instead because it can make my blood vessels more flexible. However, another doctor told me I should not take it because I have an autoimmune disease (Sjogren) and L-Arginine would aggravate my condition. I am not sure whom should I follow.

Have anyone aware of any research related to L-Arginine and auto immune problem? Many thanks!

Hi- I also have Sjogren's and have been searching for more natural remedies which led me to your post. I am looking for something to help with the brain fog and increase energy, which L-Arginine is supposed to do. The main problem with some of these supplements is that when they boost immunity, we are actually boosting our symptoms. If I am allergic to myself, as you are, when our immune system is working hard, it is actually working against us- the symptoms are caused by an allergy to the moisture producing organs of our body, so when it's working right, it increases our symptoms- make sense? That would be why the rheumotologist told you not to take it. That being said- I am wondering if you did ever start it and if it helped or hurt.Did you find something else that helped instead?

I am not familiar with your illness so can talk only general. If two doctors are saying different things I prefer  listening the one who would say no about a treatment or on a medication. Why? Because the one who is against will not just talk to the air, he knows why his warning is valid .On the other hand  they are both professionals so their words are important, and we cannot expect from even a well trained doctor to keep up with the newest discovering. So I understand what you are looking for. Unfortunately I do not have the answer for that. You also should post that here on Medhelp on the expert forum.
