blood tests

Not sure where to post this - so thought I'd try here.

Can anyone suggest reasons why it is so difficult to get blood from me?  When I go, they have a difficult time getting a vein - if they do get a vein it bursts and they have to try again.  I always get bruises afterwards.  Sometimes it clots so fast they have to retake the tests.  Its getting to the point that I hate getting blood tests now.  I try to drink lots of water before hand - any suggestions?

Thanks!  I too have to get the nurses who have been taking blood for 40+ years to get mine - I worry about the day when they all retire and the only ones left are those that "dig" to get a vein.  Have you ever had any medical reason given why they have such a hard time for you.  I never had problems giving blood before I got sick - so not sure if this is part of my illness or just a coincidence.

My veins are very hard to find.  They always have to call at least one other person most of the time two because they cannot find a vein.  I always too drink lots of water (1-2 bottles) before the blood is drawn and they still can't find a vein.
