Thanks for the reply. My DR stated that the echo revealed no abnormalities in heart functions....all valves and other parts of the heart appeared to be normal. Also, a stress test was perfomed which shows normal heart activity.
The atrium metric is an estimation, but an enlarged left atrium would not cause the pain you describe. Did the echo doppler indicate any mitral valve stenoisis (narrowing of opening) or regurgitation (back flow of blood into the atrium)? If those conditions were serious that could cause chest pain as there is less oxygenated blood getting into circulation with each heartbeat.
