Are you sure it is a skipped beat? What did the doc say? It sounds like PVC's which is when you feel a pause and then a thud. It actually feels like a skipped beat but in reality is an extra beat. The thud after the pause can be felt as a hard beat when it happens. If this is what you have, it is said not to be life threatening. Millions of people live with it everyday. I have it and have had it for 13 yrs. These are not treated with meds unless they are really freqent and bothersome.
Most of us in here are told to just try and ignore them and get on with our lives which can be really hard to do when they happens. It can cause quite a bit of anxiety which tends to make them worse sometimes and some people choose to be treated for the anxiety brought on by them.
My suggestion is to take a magnesium supplement which helps to regulate your heart rhythym. A deficiency in it can cause a whole array of problems like irregular heart beat, anxiety, panic, migraines, the list goes on and on. You can get a magnesium supplement from most amywhere...Wal Mart, your pharmacy, etc. I read that Slow Mag is reccomended by some docs.
Hope this helps!

If you've had a cardiac workup and your cardiologist said you were fine, then try to ignore them and move on with life.
