Help please, urgent advice needed

I am terribly worried for my fiancee, she has the following symptoms; a strong chest/heart pain that stops her moving, noticeably brought on by cold weather/cold air, when she has this pain, which last only for a matter of seconds, she feels she cannot move or breath.

She finds lying on her back in bed uncomfortable, as during her sleep she feels her heartbeat becomes too slow.

She has NO pain when running or doing any other cardiovascular type exercise, and leaves me as a bodybuilder panting and out of breath behind her when climbing stairs and such.

Alarmingly, she has a heart problem history within one side of the family, however given that she can run and take exercise without any pain at all, I am unsure what it is. Also, I cannot understand why cold/cold air would bring it on more, as I always thought heat did this.

She has a problem with low calcium, which she takes liquid calcium for as prescribed to her, and she has 3x normal cholesterol levels.(though she is very thin, 110 for 5'8)

Many many thanks, from her very worried fiancee Ben.

Many thanks indeed.

Thanks again,

She went to the doctor, who laughed it off and told her not to worry, gave her calmers though.

She has had these symptoms for a year, and had some hair loss problems too.

She is eating well now, but does eat a fair amount of cholesterol, cold cuts and such.

I have no idea what it might be, except a hereditary problem, however I am praying this isnt the case and so am asking for all and any advice or help.

Thanks again,

Ben

Hi Ben,

I don't necessarily think that your g/f is dehydrated.  However, I remember when my daughter was young, she had a severe case of the stomach flu and became very dehydrated. She was admitted to the hospital within hours of coming down with the flu.  She was so severely dehydrated that I could actually hear her heart murmur from across the room!!  Absent the necessary nutrients, the body's major organs can be affected.

Is it possible that the chest discomfort is a side effect of the calcium medication?  Or, could she have strained a muscle?  The body is full of bones, muscles and nerves all of which can become irritated (for whatever reason).

Does your g/f eat a fairly good diet?  Given her height and weight, it seems that she is on the slender side.  Just make sure she is eating healthy, getting exercise and that she follows up with her MD.

Hi,

Could be, she has a bit of an addiction to...cola....she drinks nearly nothing else, I have told her this is no good and she is taking a break from it.

She is going to see her doctor and a cardio also, but I am dead worried here.......any advice or help is greatly welcomed......

Tell me more about what makes you think it is dehydration.....would love to know more.

Thanks and God bless

Ben

Any chance your fiance is dehydrated?  An electrolyte imbalance can cause all sorts of symptoms/healt issues.  I would strongly suggest she schedule a thorough physical and discuss her symptoms with her personal physician.
