Your blood pressure and heart rate vary throughout the day. Most people have a rise in both after meals. If your BP and Heart rate are allready high it is probably that the meals cause it to spike. Do you take your BP regularly? If so what is the difference between "normal" amd "elevated" after meals?
flyboy is right. Let me tell you what happened to me last month. Sometimes when I am in a hurry and do not want to make the time to eat lunch I bought "Ensure" which is a drink full of vitamins and stuff, NOT a diet drink, but doctors give it to paients who go through chemo therapy or to patients who cannot eat regular food. Since its loaded with all these vitamins I thought to myself "great, I just drink one of these". It took me one week to find out what was wrong with me. Heart beating like a maniac, anxiety, BP rising 40 points. I did not know what the hell was going on. I said to myself "did my BP meds stop working all of a sudden"??.
I then made inventory of what all I eat and have eaten, and did think about the "Ensure" but brushed it off since its not a diet drink. Anyway long story short I researched "Ensure" on the internet, about its side effects and sure enough, pounding, heart, anxiety, elevated BP was some of the side effects listed. Who would have thought that something so nourishing and so good with all the vitamins could have these side effects in me. Or maybe what was in it didn't agree with the meds I'm taking.
I stopped drinking it, and two days later I was my old self again and ever since.
Could it be triggered by whatever you've just eaten? Some people have this reaction when they allergic to something. Why not keep a diary of events.

I also have watched my BP excellerate beyond a safe reading when and after I have eaten. What is that about????
