Perhaps you can google "cannon A wave". It's related to PVC's and how the heart responds to the premature contraction. I forget how it all works but I do believe it's that A wave that causes the surging pressure that triggers the cough.

I was sure someone would pop in with an answer. With skipped beats (PVC's) some people feel a surge of pressure in their head (head rush), perhaps a little light-headed. If I get a single PVC, it doesn't do much to me other than the noticeable thump. If I get a string of them close together, I get a lump-in-the-throat feeling and some pressure in my chest to the point that I finally have to cough. Some folks even use coughing to break an episode of arrhythmia.
