Is my BP Normally high.

Hi

I have recently checked my Blood pressure many times(2-3/day for 3 weeks). Every time i would check it it was high, i mean 155/90--170/95. I am fairly healthy, i have changed my lifestyle in the past year and have lost around 50 lbs. i am 6' 0" and weigh 200 lbs. i run almost everyday, i run 3 miles in around 26 minutes and if i try i can do it in around 25. which is fairly good. I don't do any weight training just cardio and pushups(100-200). my father has high blood pressure along with the rest of his family. do you think i should make an urgent dr. appt. or should i wait it out for a couple more weeks.

thanks

With a family history of high blood pressure, it may be a good idea to have your cardiovascular system evaluated, and sometimes there is no identified cause (essential hypertension).  The frequency of your testing seems to rule out an abnormal variation.

Thanks for your question.  Taske care,

Ken
