Left arm pain and palpitation

I had a cold and sore throat diagnosed as bronchitis, and the doctor gave me Z-pak and Prednisone. He asked me to take 2 prednisones each day and 1 z-pak a day from the 2nd day. But on the second day for the first time at night I woke up with significant pain in my left arm almost up to my wrist and experienced palpitation. Went to the ER, EKG looked normal, BP normal and they said it may be because of the Prednisone and asked me to stop taking it. MEt with the doctor and he said I may have Mitral Valve Prolapse and asked me to do echo cardiogram. Do you think the Prednisone caused the MPV, or was it because I was stressed. COuld it be more than MPV, like something more serious.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I checked out the web-site. How are you feeling now. Do you have any problems in your heart because of this.

I took a Z-pak 2 years ago and it led me to dibilitating pain, such as what you are experiencing.  Although you will have a tough time trying to get a doctor to admit to antibiotics being to root to problems such as this... I have been done 2 years of researching my own symptoms and here is what I have to say.  First, please go to Antibiotics.org and read the PDF on side-effects and see if you can relate to any of the symptoms on page 19-22.  Then research the side effects of the z-pak, as I did, and see if you have any of those listed side-effects.  Best of luck, hope this info. helps.
