Lopressor side effect?

I was started on Lopressor 26mg twice a day, three weeks ago.  It wiped me out energy wise the first two weeks.  That seems to be improving some but I've gained nine pounds, my legs are swelling and I feel bloated.  Do beta blockers cause this?  Will it improve with time on the drug or do I need to look for a difference fix for the heart block?

I've just gone through a chemical stress test, 48 hour Holter, echocardiogram and carotid ultrasound.  Everything is good structurally and functionally with the plumbing (EF of 68%).  My problem is purely electrical, an intermittent 2:1 heart block (undertermined cause) accompanied by chest pressure and air hunger.  The rate would dip down in the low 50's for a while and then jump up into the 90-105 range.  The lopressor has greatly decreased those symptoms but I still can't get back to my former physical activity level.  The leg swelling is only present since starting the lopressor.

I will check with the docs but thought someone might have a similar experience.

You should  see a doctor.  Your symptoms can be due to heart failure...quick weight gain, leg swelling can be due to the heart not pumping effectively and blood backs up in the system and fluids leak into tissues.  I was told after my discharge from the hospital for heart failure to weigh myself every morning and if there is an increase of weight to notify my doctor.
