Dilatation of the Ascending Thoracic Aorta, Measuring up to 4.5 CM

Just Recently had a CT scan done and it showed a dilatation of the ascending thoracic aorta up to 4.5cm. I have no chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness ect.I do have mild elevated Blood pressure and take Beta Blockers for it. I`m 5-11 and 184 lbs. and 54 years old. Can someone please expalin this condition to me and how is it watched and treated. How big does it have to get to be surgically treated. Can this be watched & treated with medication?

Recently I found the information from a website about BAV patients that the medicaltion for a BP(blood pressrue) control can delay the dilation. But I don't know if the medication is needed for patients who have a normal range of BP or not. You should not lift heavy stuffs over 10 - 20 lbs.  I have ever read a research paper about increasing rates 0.8 mm or 1 mm per year. It is usually increasing. I was also told that some people do not increase over the size. I hope you will check this informaton with your specialist for confirmation.

For anyone that has SVT...I have had Svt all my life...I am now 61 and it has gotten worse, I had the Ablation with no problem, except they couldn't fix it....They went through my neck and both my legs...I even had a cardioversion..the cardioversion lasted 3 years.... Now the only thing left is for me is a pacemaker...But as far as an Ablation...Nothing to worry about...I am on Metropolol which helps..the main thing is stay off Caffine and Cigarettes..this does help......For blood pressure and to help keep me from having svt attacks...Just letting everyone know about ablation...it is not as bad as people think it is...doesn't even hurt....
