I have been light headed, but really didn't think much about it. A couple of year ago my Optometrist found: Arcus senilis is a white or gray opaque ring or arc around the cornea of the eye. Arcus senilis is seen often in the elderly, but is sometimes present at birth. When arcus senilis develops in early or middle life, it is referred to as arcus juvenilis.
Although arcus senilis does not interfere with vision, the condition may indicate elevated levels of cholesterol. The arc or ring that occurs with arcus senilis comes from lipids (fats) or cholesterol deposited in the cornea.
I have my blood work or labs check on a regular basis and everything always comes back fantastic. In fact, my physican ask me if I even eat fat in my diet.
An EEG will not reveal issues with blocked carotid arteries. It might be wise to ask them to run a doppler echo on your carotid arteries. The symptoms you describe could certainly be associated with them.
I had a large tumor removed about 6 years ago, that was behind my right ear, over the cartoid gland. The last 8 months or so, I am getting a strange pain on both sides of neck there. I also am feeling very weak, dizzy, light headed as though I will pass out. Is there any connection of this to the surgery? I take chlorestral meds and have that under control.I had a EEG done 2 weeks ago which did not show anything. I do have an appointment with a Neurosurgon next month. Thanks,
Have you had a cholesterol blood test in case you suffer from hypercholesterolemia? that's what caused my coronary arteries to be a mess at the age of 46 along with high blood pressure for many years.
I am taking Metoprolol, Hydrochlorothiazide and Topiramate. My physican has not seen these results yet. I had them done a a health fair at our office complex yesterday afternoon. Thank you! This is important information since my father passed at age 41 after after having his 6th heart attack. My father was tall, skinny and seemed to be in great health. As we all know family history does play a large roll.
I hope someone else will comment also, but it looks like the results of a doppler echo done on your carotid arteries. CCA is the common Carotid artery, ICA is the internal carotid artery, two either side of the neck, one of each.
The psv is the peak systolic velocity, and the edv is the echo doppler velocity. Two readings to calculate plaque build up due to drops in speed of the blood passing by. I think the ICS mids edv at the bottom of your report should read ICA mid edv?
Basically you have 60% stenosis (restriction) in both left and right Common Carotid Arteries. You have 54% stenosis in the left Internal Carotid and 57% in the right internal. Each artery gives a good supply to the brain, but each of the four in your case seem to be 60% blocked. This doesn't require intervention yet, but I assume they will likely put you on some meds to help keep plaque minimised, and help reduce risk of clots. Meds such as statins, blood pressure meds, aspirin or even the possibility of warfarin. What have they suggested? Are you getting any symptoms such as light headedness?
