Thanks for the response franners, I have CHF also but have a low Ejection Fraction. My last Echo improved from 14% to less than 30%. My cardiologist said I would have CHF the rest of my life and would not be able to stop the meds regardless of what the ejection fraction was. On paper my ejection fraction has doubled yet I don't feel any better, if anything I felt better at 14% than I do at close to 30%. I guess E/F does not tell the whole story.
I have an EF of 55% and have been dx with CHF and was told I have ventricular remodeling, am on 40 of lasix,,12.5 coreg twice daily, lisinopril 5mg daily,k,imdur 90mg daily. The remodeling is caused by narrowing of the coronary arteries that cause a decrease in the blood supply to the ventricles. You can have a normal EF and still have CHF. My echo showed I had some hypokinesis and wall thickening. So I am one of those 50%. I have tried to get off lasix by really sticking to a low salt diet but become short of breath and tacycardic. Hope this helps.
