Medication side effect?

I am a 48 yo female, 5'4", 125 lb, never smoked and have a drink, at most, 2X yr (none since starting cardiac meds).  Triglycerides 219, total cholesterol 171, LDL 83 and HDL 44. I had an incident of cardiac vasospasm 8-11-07 after taking Imitrex. The cardiac cath revealed a 55% blockage in LAD.  In addition to throwing away my Imitrex, my new cardiologist placed me on Cardia XT 120mg and Lovastatin 10mg.
My problem since being placed on the cardiac medications (it seems) is frequent nausea and occasional vomiting. Is there a relation?  Are there medications or remedies that I might discuss with my doctor as an alternative?

I appreciate your feedback.  I not only read (and kept) the pharmacy printouts but also researched the 2008 Nursing drug guide at the hosp where I work.  Nausea is listed on both Cartia and Lovastatin and vomiting is listed on the Lovastatin in the professional guide.  I suspected that many people don't have this problem like myself, though, or I'd be hearing more about people's quality of life being impacted by side effects.  After writing the entry last night, I woke up vomiting and then was nauseated again just after getting to work.  This happens 4-5 times a week now.
I'm impressed by the descrease in #s you've experienced and obviously I need to keep taking my medications until my doctor and I can find the right mix that my GI tract can tolerate.
Thanks again.

I don't take either of these meds, but when I get mine they all come w/ an attachment listing all possible side effects.  I always read them, because when you are taking as many meds as those of us w/ CAD typically take then I believe it is important.  If you don't have the paperwork, recommend a google search of those meds and you should be able to find the side effects.  If those aren't listed, or are listed w/ a note to notify your doctor if you experience those effects, then get in touch w/ him/her as soon as possible.  I have 5 stents in my LAD, and the meds I take for CAD include Lipitor, Zetia, and Niacin.  I also take Lisinipril, Isosorbide Mononitrate, Plavix, Cilostazol, Ranexa and Fish Oil, but don't have any of the nausea you've experienced.  You do have to watch some of the issues w/ Niacin, but by taking an aspirin and waiting 1/2 hour you can usually avoid them.  My meds have done a remarkable job of lowering my cholesterol from 368 to 120 and all my levels (LDL/HDL) are within normal limits so I can strongly recommend the "cocktail" the docs have put me on.  Good luck, and hope you are able to get over your nausea soon.
