Palpitations in middle of night

Last night I was sleeping and woke up around 3 am and I am not sure if I woke up with palpitations or if they emerged about a minute later after I woke up, but it really freaked me out because it has been about a month since I have had any and I am pretty stress free. I do believe that I went through a stage of elevated anxiety but I read a bunch of self-help books and thought I had conquered it and then this happens and now I am worried. I am a 19 year old male who is in very good shape. I play basketball about 3 hours a day on the weekdays as I am trying to make the basketball team at college. I figured if I had any serious heart problems I wouldn't be able to train like I do, but then when I woke up at 3 am and felt the palpitations I was freaked out and wasn't so sure anymore. They lasted about 2 hours and then I finally went back to sleep and woke up and they were gone. I ate very unhealthy this past weekend because I was on vacation and ate fast food for almost every meal and usually I eat really healthy so I think that might have been it and also my house was 80 degrees because I forgot to turn it down when I got back home so I think that might have been the cause of my sweating when I woke up. I am not really stressed although I go back to college in 4 days I am still not stressed I enjoy college and don't get stressed out about it. I don't really remember if I had any bad dreams or anything but it was just weird because I have never really had the palpitations last as long as they did this time that is why I freaked out. If you have any advice or solutions please let me know and also I cannot go see a doctor until I get my school insurance so I haven't had any test done and I think that freaks me a lot to because I always have the what-if my heart is bad but then again I have very good endurance and participate with high intensity exercise without any problems.

Thanks so much for the advice I think that could've been it, because I guess I didn't feel stressed out but I do have a lot of things to get done in a matter of 3 days before I leave out. And yeah it was one just this one episode that lasted this long and for the past month and a half I have been palpitation free and not had any problems.

Stress is a funny thing.  I always say I am not stressed out.  But then I catch myself grinding my teeth or something along the lines that go with stress.  A lot of the time we do not even realize that we are stressiing.  If it was this one episode I wouldn't get too distraught over it.  Think of the good things that come out of going to college.  Those were some of my best years.  Take care, Ally
