I know this is an old post, BUT i needed to reply to it..
Have you heard of MSG ? It is in our foods, especially chinese food, and processed foods...
Google it, see if this sounds like you? I have palpitations all the time, so scary, i have had all tests, i am off to the see cardio for my results in january (he is on leave at the mo) And i will also be taking in information about MSG .. I can't eat a chinese without a pounding heart!! So i tend to avoid them now..

Get you thyroid checked. the first time I had a similar experience I went to the doctor as I found I was preggy at that time and she did a routine blood check and it was discovered that I was hypothyroid. Seems most times I get the palpitations (slightly different then you though) its cause of that, except right now.
Maybe you were not supper anxious but something stuck with you, then you started feelign your heart beeting hard and you became more and more aware of the feeling despite trying not to think about it. Then you subcontiously or counsiously started to worry what could be causing them and then you entered the vicious circle of anxiety causing the heart palpitation and the palpitation causing anxiety. That's where I'm at now working to get out of the circle.
As for the meds if taking them are making you anxious then don't take them cause you will still be thinking of the symptoms and stuff. I took some anxiety meds and that's what happened, my anxiety symptoms were different but there were lots more. Make sure to have a follow up 5-7 days after starting a new med since stoping with your doctor's ok during that time frame should not give you any withdrawl symptoms.

Even if you aren't more stressed you may just be focusing on the sensation of your heart more. Once you start to beome aware of it it becomes hard it 'tune out' again and ignore it.
see for me i know i have anxiety and i get stressed but these are bascially every min of the day and night when i go out with family when im with my g/f when im alone no matter what no real trigger i dont feel stressed nore do i feel any anxiety especially when these first started it came out of no where
I know the feeling I'm 27 and I get these palpitations. It's a bad feeling becasue well, in my case I get them every minute. It'll stop for a few, but it's consantly happening. My doctor told me that it's stress related, and usually there's no cure for it, There are pills out there to relax you down some what, but these anxiety, stress relate palpitations usually go away, but you need to some what change your life style to a more relaxing environment. Yea it's hard. For me its hard. I attend college full time, and work full time it's hard. so in my case I it's hard. I'm also taking tropol very low dosage. It works great, but still not getting the right rest can trigger the palpitation.
i havnt started the medicine yet since my insurance gave me a hard time with it im getting it finally today and will start it tomorrow morning..but honestly it didnt really improve anything on its own..i feel less anxious i wasnt that anxious to begin with but my heart is still pounding
As far as I know, what you are referring to is only a problem for people with coronary artery disease. You are too young for this. And you are on a low dose anyway.
Did your symptoms improve at all after seeing the doctor?
hey just got back from the dr..he gave me an ekg that was fine blood pressure was normal..he listened to my heart and lungs all fine but he did hear and feel my heart pounding..he thinks its all uncontrolable anxiety he prescribed me toprol xl 25 mg he said take that for a month and see how im doing..if im still having problems then hes going to send me to cardiologist...but i just read online if you stop this med suddenly it could make your condition worse or even cause heart attack should i be worried considering my heart is supposivly healthy,im 21 and im taking a low dosage?
I don't think you are having symptoms of any kind of heart disease. Have you had your thyroid checked though? An overactive thyroid can cause palpitations. Ask your doctor about this on Monday.
im seeing him most likely on mon so hopefully something comes out of it just seems like so far away
You can take the beta blockers on a short term basis and you can take a low dose. You can also take them on an as needed basis. I'd imagine that you doctor will prescribe them no problem if that is what you want. They are very common. It was a nurse practitioner who first prescribed them for me. I took a very low dose and it did ease the sensation.
i can only hope this is all mind related just hard to think that way when going through it and like you ive had anxiety before and never presented its self this way and right now i dont feel stress or anxiety ridden yet im having physical symptoms..i hope my dr does prescribe that but i doubt all the drs ive seen around here think im too young for anything like that
Aswell as the constant pounding I also had a lot of pressure and heaviness/stiffness in my chest and rib cage. Again it seemed such a real physical sensation and I wasn't thinking anxious thoughts. I reasoned that I had been really stressed and nervous before in my life and never felt like that. I had thought that if it was anxiety the symptoms would come in the form of panic attacks rather than being constant, every minute of the day and night. Apparently not.
I am now totally amazed by how strong the mind body connection can be as the discomfort I felt was so real and intense. I never really believed much in that stuff before.
Maybe your doctor will prescribe you a beta blocker to relieve your symptoms. These make the heart beat less forcefully.
thats pretty much how i feel for months ive been having chest pain thats why i had all the tests and everythign came back fine but still i had chest pain so everyone telling me its anxiety and depression before the chest pain i had palpitations for awhile mostly at night and waking up..then those stop and the pain started..so i have been dealing with the pain and i was going to go to my dr next week to see what else we could try then all the sudden out the clear blue nothing triggering it palpitations started last week and havnt let up since they have been non stop and at first i was toughing it out but now its gotten to me which proably has made it worse but it just cares me to have these feelings non stop like ive said if it were just episodes i wouldnt be as worried
I had this a few months ago. I felt like my heart was beating really really hard all the time, literally pounding from the moment I woke up. Not fast but just forceful, as if it was working really hard. The same way your heart pounds when exercising but not as fast. The doctor suggested it was anxiety but I was adamant that I was not anxious and it was a a real physical sensation of pounding that I couldn't ignore.
I had a cardio appointment for another issue and he also said it was usually anxiety that makes one acutely aware of the heart so that it seems more forceful than normal. In reality the heart `does beat forcefully it's just that the body is conditioned to ignore this sensation. However when anxious you begin to notice it rather than tuning it out. Again I protested that I definitely was not anxious. He did an echo there and then and a stress test which were normal. I woke up the next morning and my heart wasn't pounding anymore. I guess in my case, it must have been subconscious anxiety after all.
it very rarely goes up that high what i mean by palpitation is pounding heart just feeling it beat and aware of my heart beat even though it doesnt really race and like i said i dont notice any extra or skipped beats
When you say palpitation do you just mean feeling a racing heart? Because up to 100 is a normal heart rate. A little on the high end but still normal.
man I had similar number of tests and everything normal. I ended up with v-tac. I would get them to have you wear the monitoring longer and also check your diet.
