I don't recall having any pains in my "back".
But I do remember for the first few months, having strange weird scary pains all over my body, and every few couple of days they where different and moved to a different location.
I think alot of it is the body still in shock. And thinking about it makes it worse.
My advice would be if the pain is in your back (which seems to be a wierd place) and it doesn't go away or get better after a couple of days, you should call your doctor.
It may be something not related?
Could it be the way you are forced to sleep now? Maybe your bed is too hard or too soft?

When I wanted to cough, I would clutch a soft pillow tightly into my chest to help stop the pains.

In the UK you would expect to still be under the care of a district nurse so you could ask her, if not don't think you are being a nuisance to your GP, you are entitled to understand what your body has gone through, any concerns should be addressed.
