QUESTION ABOUT EKGs

Can an EKG be okay one day and horrific the next?  When an EKG turns out well, does that mean good heart health, or does that simply mean good heart health at the time the EKG was administered?

Question: EKG done in ER abt 1 yr ago showed Brachardia. Saw Cardio dr and had a 48 hr halter that showed Tachycardia. Now having seizures and during the seizure it feels like fluttery heart, BP increases, why doesn't this show up on halter or EKG? Oxygen 100%. I'm confused and not getting answers.

I saw my doctor today and he did an EKG, which showed POSSIBLE myocardio ischemia.  He said it wasn't anything to be concerned about, but is sending me to a cardiologist.  I have made a followup appointment with cardiologist.  This EKG was done with an office machine and he said they often "over-read".  Any comments please, should I be worried?

EKGs are not always accurate. It is more in the interpretation of the doctor. I had a normal one on a Tues and the next day had high degree heart block and had to get pacemaker. So in answer to your question, yes, it can be normal one day and abnormal the next. But I do agree with bev, I dont rely too much on an EKG.

I would NEVER trust an EKG ever again.  Both my husband and I showed that we had a "previous heart attack", both EKG's done at different places, mine at the ER, my husband's at a Cardiologist's office.  The following EKG's showed NO previous heart attack, but we still had to go through all kinds of tests to prove there was no heart attack even though the following EKG's were normal.

People had "normal" EKG's before and the same day or the next day had a heart attack.

I have more confidence in a thermometer to check your temperature than I do in an EKG registering your heart.
