Should a doc be able to hear pericarditis?

Should a doc be able to hear pericarditis?

Was diagnosed about 1.5 months ago with pericarditis.  About 3 weeks ago my primary care doc said that the EKG showed it was still there.  Then, I saw a cardiologist who said that that I did not have it because he could not hear the heart rub up against the pericardium.

Saw the primary care doc again this past Mon (or Tues?), and he said that pericarditis can't always be heard.  Should I get a third opinion?

Perhaps they are both correct - The first doctor detected on an EKG and by the time you saw the second doctor it was either gone or less audible.  Did the first doctor hear it?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericardial_friction_rub

I would. I don't know very much about this condition, but it seems the two docs say different things. Study up on it, there is a ton of info out there. This way you go into the docs office armed with useful info and can challenge what he says...nicely of course.

AFAIK (but I am not sure) the first doctor did not hear it.  Thanks for the link.
