Side effects of atenolol

I have had two episodes of  runs of PVCS, PACS trigerring tachycardia, one with a rate of almost 200bpm in the last three months with the most recent being a week ago.  Both landed me in the ER because they scared the *** out of me.  After the first I went to cardiologist, echo was normal, holter was ok whatever that means.   Last MOnday I started taking 25mg of atenolol once daily.  It has really helped the palps but it's killing my stomach.  I have no appetite, terrible gas and I seem to be getting constipated.  I'm also concerned about the weight gain that I've read about.  I'm just wondering what others have experienced with this medication and if the stomach symptoms will get better with time.  I truly don't want to stop taking it because I feel like I can actually relax and not worry so much about my heart flopping all around and taking off to the races.  That part has been nice!

i started taking it when i ws 19 for svt. its one of the more safe one (least side effects)
i had svt really bad and at 100 lbs i ws taking 100 mg. my problme was with my stomach also.
i was having such bad prblems w/ it and i can tell u why.
i was told by a stomach specialist that i seen for it that atenolol is a med that when taken it loosens ur a sphincter that ur asophagus has. thus the gas i got  felt like bubbles in my stomach and i also get a burning really bad too. and heartburn
you should eat when you take it to help.
i was given prevacid and then nexium to control it.
but my svt was also really bad an stressed me out thats why.
the nexium in rare cases (happened to me) agitated me and made me have papls.

i have never heard of weight gain.
just that it can make u sleepy. alot of people dont have as much energy cause it takes an ease on ur adrenal glands. lowers ur endurance for exercise.

There are other beta blockers you could try... I take Propranolol 20 mg's once daily with no side effects at all and I have a very sensitive stomach. It really helps reduce my pvcs.
